Wayback Burgers introduces electric delivery and on-site cooking vehicle

Wayback Burgers, the Cheshire, Connecticut-based burger chain, has developed a 5.5- by 8-foot electric vehicle that delivers food and brings a kitchen to the customer for on-site preparation. The company developed the solution, Viddl-It, with Tropos Technologies and is presently demonstrating it to franchisees nationwide, according to a press release.

The Viddl-It app allows customers to reserve a vehicle for catering or to order a meal that will be delivered to them and cooked on the spot.       

"It's basically private catering on demand," John Eucalitto, CEO of Wayback Burgers, said in the press release. "The food is made fresh on the spot."

He said it addresses the two biggest complaints from customers about quality or that a driver forgot something.

The company tested the first Viddl-It vehicle near its headquarters before unveiling the new program to franchisees at the Wayback Burgers Convention in October of last year. The vehicles will cost franchisees who choose to include Viddl-It in their operations around $35,000. The vehicles include refrigerators, freezers, griddles, fryers, etc., and run on electric and propane with a battery that gets about 80 miles per charge. 

To celebrate the launch of the Viddl-It delivery vehicle, Wayback Burgers is doing a cross-country tour for franchisees. Stops will include:
